The Importance of Good Web Design…

The importance of beautiful website design can’t be overstated. Yes, the information on your website is of course important (and should be accurate). But the design itself will go a long way towards determining whether or not users stick around to read your content or if they decide to look elsewhere…

Are you getting the feeling they wouldn’t even give you a second thought?

Good (or GREAT, I should say) web design is essential for all businesses…

Great web design is essential for all businesses, and it's more important now than ever. The way people search has changed dramatically in the last few years, as has the way they access websites. We're not just talking about Google anymore; there are hundreds of other channels that you can use to help drive traffic to your site.

There are several reasons why good web design is so important:

  • It helps you to convert new visitors into paying customers

  • It makes it easier for people to find what they're looking for when they land on your website, rather than scrambling to find relevant information

  • It makes it easier for people who visit your website often (returning customers) to navigate through it quickly and efficiently

If that isn’t convincing enough for you… I’ll be straight up and say that poor web design IS going to cost you sales.

If your website is poorly designed, visitors will be turned off and there’s a high possibility that they will leave your site almost immediately. This also applies to the application of mobile websites… optimisation for small screen sizes and screen resolutions is key! The truth sometimes hurts but poor design in any format will lead to a loss of sales by alienating potential customers!

Good web design will help you attain more quality traffic from not only search engines but social media platforms as well (in case that wasn’t obvious to you). But even if your site looks great on desktop computers or laptops, it won't matter much if people can't access it due to slow page load speed and outdated content - you right now, “Ohhh another thing to worry about! (shakes head)”? - Sorry, but these things all REALLY do matter!

You probably don’t need to hear it from me but you don’t want these things affecting your reputation. Which they will…

I’m sure that you already know how important good web design is. But just in case you don’t, I want to share some of the reasons why it is so important for you and your biz:

  • People judge your business by the quality of your website. As a small business owner, you probably spend a lot of time and effort working on your services in order to provide the best customer experience possible. But if someone visits your website for the first time and finds it poorly designed and confusing, they may be less likely to trust that level of service from you personally. A bad impression can affect not only future sales but also whether people will share their experiences with others — both online and off!

  • Poorly designed websites have a negative effect on search engine rankings (SEO). Search engines like Google use various factors to determine which sites rank highly in search results; one such factor is whether visitors find certain pages easy or difficult to navigate around while looking at them and takes into account the amount of time your users spend on your website. If they cannot easily find what they are looking for on your site, then they are less likely to continue using it—or come back again later on down the road when something else catches their eye more than before. i.e. they are likely to exit out of your site very quickly and let me tell you something… You want Google to like you!!! Heck, you want Google to be your BEST FRIEND!

Great website design is the price of entry in today’s world, whether we like it or not…

We all know how competitive and saturated a lot of today’s industries are and a good website is the price of entry. You need it to compete with your competitors and grow your business. If you don't have a good website, you are putting your business at huge risk for losing out on potential clients (not what we want!). It will affect how people perceive your company and your products or services. Bad web design will do the complete opposite of what you want and will lead people away from doing business with you and towards someone else who has a better looking site that’s easier to navigate… something more easy on the eye.

If you want to grow your business (which I think is a big fat “YES!”), then your DIY website isn’t going to cut it anymore. Having an attractive website is ESSENTIAL to the success of your business, trust me.

No matter the business you run, your website has a huge impact…

You may be thinking, “Why should I care about my site’s design? All I need is a Contact Page”. Well first of all (soz) but you’re wrong. Besides the obvious of your website being a key part of your business and having a huge impact on its success:

  • It affects your sales. If you have a poorly designed website that looks unprofessional, outdated or too DIY-y, or even worse, it’s confusing to navigate - you’re going to lose clients! A good looking, schmicko site will help convince potential buyers that they can feel confident about making purchases from you and trusting that you are an investment, which you are!

  • It affects your reputation! A badly made website can also hurt how people perceive your company as a whole. Your website is often one of the first things potential clients see when learning about what kind of services you offer; therefore, it should showcase everything that makes your brand special, which is a whole fricken lot!!

I could go on and on and on about why you should invest in good website design, the other factors related and why they’re so important, but these elements are most critical. Take the time to fix your website and make sure it meets those needs if it has issues in these areas.

If you don’t have the time or believe that it may be a challenge you can’t handle on your own, then consider hiring a professional who can help you to achieve what is necessary for success with your website, a beautiful and FUNCTIONAL design that screams professionalism.
